The owners at Peach Street Books (like most indie booksellers) are frequently approached by self-published authors who would like us to stock their books. Shelf space is at a premium, however, so we carefully curate what we put on our shelves and how we display it. We stock titles that interest our customers and that reflect our love of books and reading.

We require that you send us a review copy of your book, which will not be returned to you. Please do not approach us at the shop - we like to focus on our customers when the shop is open.

All decisions are at our discretion. Basically, you choose what to write; we choose what to sell.

Note: Your book is self-published (non-traditionally published) if you financed your book in any way.

If you have a book that meets the following guidelines, we require that you send us a review copy before we will stock the book. This copy will NOT be returned to you. Please do not approach us at the shop - we like to focus on our customers when the shop is open. Yes, this is repeated from above - we’re committed to the customer in front of us.

  • Our most successful self-published books are regional non-fiction titles about the Eastern Shore of Virginia.

  • Personal memoirs have limited appeal and we are not likely to stock these titles.

  • The book should have been edited by a professional copy editor.

  • We expect you to advertise through your social media the we carry your book.

  • We have to be able to display the book - the title must be on the spine and the cover art must meet industry standards.

  • We must be able to easily stock the book - it must have an ISBN number and be available from or distributor at our regular discount.

    Thank you, BA and Carol
